Opportunity Description: SPOKEN.IO , a Techstars -backed English language learning startup based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, is creating a remote business development internship focusing on Taiwan. The goal of this position is to identify and pursue new revenue channels and sales & marketing approaches.
About SPOKEN.IO: Spoken uses artificial intelligence to provide private English language lessons with live native-speaking instructors for as low as $5/hour, or 5–10✕ less than the cost of existing solutions. Spoken is initially focused on serving international professionals who have English language needs tied to their careers and is currently identifying additional user groups as well.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new revenue channels in Taiwan.
- Test sales and marketing strategies and approaches.
- Design and develop new sales and marketing materials with the Spoken team.
- Maintain weekly communication with Spoken’s leadership team.
Hours and Flexibility:
- This is a remote position (e.g. not on-site) and is the applicant can maintain flexible hours.
- The position is results-driven, but applicant should be able to dedicate 15-20 hours/week.
Ideal Applicant Background:
The ideal applicant will:
- Have intimate knowledge of and experience in Taiwan.
- Have an excellent grasp of English and Mandarin.
- Have prior sales or marketing experience.
- Be a recent or current MBA student or have relevant professional experience.
- Be motivated, industrious, and self-sufficient.
- Be outgoing and comfortable with many social interactions.
