活動簡章

競賽目的:

為鼓勵臺灣在學之大專青年關心國際事務,展現批判思考,文藻外語大學國際事務系暨國際事務系碩士學位學程規劃辦理文藻國際事務議題英語徵文比賽,讓更多青年朋友有機會展現對於國際事務議題的批判性思考與分析視野。

競賽主題:

三、得獎公布時間:比賽結果預計將於2018年3月30日前公布於文藻國際事務系暨國際事務碩士學位學程網站(http://c050.wzu.edu.tw),主辦單位並將以電話、電子郵件通知得獎者。

 

參加對象及資格:

一、全國大專院校及研究所在學學生皆可投稿。

二、 參賽作品需為原創且須未曾參加任何公開比賽或展出、公開發表(校內或課堂發表例外)、出版或商品化及未曾有任何相關授權行為。若有抄襲之情事,主辦單位有權撤回所頒發之獎項。

 

請依以下順序繳交資料:

一、報名表

二、著作利用同意書

三、紙本以及含作品電子檔之光碟

 

稿件規格:

一、 書寫語文:英語

二、 字數限制:兩千字。

三、 格式:A4、單面列印、英文Times New Roman、標題及內文之字體大小為12 號字、1.5 倍行高。

四、 繳交紙本與電子檔。紙本請以電腦打字列印,並裝訂成冊;電子檔請繳交(1)word 檔(docx.)及(2)pdf 檔格式之檔案。

五、 資料來源請依學術規範註明引用文章出處,APA、MLA、Chicago、Harvard 等格式皆可。

六、 請下載報名表並確實填寫資料,投稿時請以長尾夾將報名表固定於作品上。

七、 除報名表、作品電子檔檔名與電子郵件之外,繳交資料其餘頁面及文字內容請勿出現作者姓名等可能顯示、暗示作者身分之資訊。

八、 恕不退稿,請自存底稿。

 

評審方式:

一、主辦單位將邀聘國際事務政治、經濟、文化方面之校內外專家組成評審小組,以公平、公正方式進行評審。

二、評分原則:

 

立意取材能依據題目及主旨選取適切材料,並能進一步闡述說明,以凸顯文章的主旨,文章結構完整,脈絡分明,內容前後連貫,並能精確使用語詞。

三、評分標準:

 

論點分析(40%)、佐證資料應用(20%)、文章結構(20%)、文字表達力(20%)。

注意事項:

一、每人限投一篇,超過篇數者,投稿資料將不予受理。

二、參賽者需遵守本活動規範,若參賽者未依參賽流程投遞參賽作品以致影響參賽權益,參賽者不得異議。

三、參賽前請下載「著作利用同意書」,並由作者親筆簽署。

四、參賽作品不得有抄襲之情事,違反學術倫理經查明屬實,主辦單位得取消得獎資格,並追回獎狀及獎金。

五、主辦單位得使用並出版得獎作品,唯著作權仍歸作者所有。

 

獎項::

首獎1 名:獎狀一張、獎金新台幣8,000 元。

貳獎1 名:獎狀一張、獎金新台幣5,000 元。

佳作1 名:獎狀一張、獎金新台幣2,000 元。

2018Wenzao International Affairs English Writing Competition

Application Guidelines

Purpose:

In order to encourage college and university students in Taiwan to engage in public debates on international affairs, as well as to demonstrate their critical thinking skills, the Department and Master’s Degree Program of International Affairs at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages organizes the Wenzao International Affairs English Writing Competition. By participating in this competition, students will have a chance to develop an analytical view of issues concerning international affairs.

Theme:

Global Change and Taiwan’s Participation in the International Arena

Schedule:

  1. Application Period: Tuesday, January 2, 2018 to Friday, March 2, 2018 by 17:00.

  1. Announcement of the Results: The results will be announced on the website of the Department and Master’s Degree Program of International Affairs (http://c050.wzu.edu.tw) on March 30, 2018, and the prize winners will also be notified individually via phone and e-mail.

 

Participant Eligibility:

  1. All undergraduate and graduate students who study at higher education institutions in Taiwan are invited to submit their written work.
  2. An article submitted shall be an original work which hasn’t been entered in any other competition, displayed in public (except for in-school or in-class presentation), published, commercialized, or authorized. If plagiarism occurs, the organizer reserves the right to withdraw any prize awarded.

 

Please submit application documents in the following order:

  1. Application Form
  2. Author Declaration and Consent to Publish Form
  3. A hard copy of a work and a disc that contains the electronic version of the work

 

Specification:

  1. Articles shall be written in English.
  2. Length: 2,000 words
  3. Format: single-sided A4 paper (Times New Roman; font size 12pt.; line spacing1.5 pt.)
  4. Please submit both a hard copy and electronic version of a work. The work shall be typed and bound. The electronic version of the work shall be in both Word (.docx) and PDF (.pdf) formats.
  5. Please cite sources in accordance with academic conventions, such as APA, MLA, Chicago, or Harvard style.
  6. Please download the application form and fill in the form completely. The completed application form shall be enclosed with the application.
  7. Please do not show the author’s name or expose any information that may imply authorship in application documents other than in the application form.
  8. All application documents will not be returned. Please make extra copies if necessary.

 

Review Process:

  1. A panel of judges made up of internal and external experts in international affairs, politics, economics, and cultural studies will be invited by the organizer to review articles in a fair manner.
  2. Evaluation principles:

 

Whether authors are able to select appropriate elements for their articles as per the subject and theme; whether they can further elaborate on their choices to highlight the themes of their articles; whether the structure of their articles is

complete, the context clear, the content consistent, and wording precise

  1. Evaluation criteria: the presentation of arguments and perspectives (40%); application of supporting materials (20%); the structure of articles (20%); ability to express concepts in words (20%)

 

Notes:

  1. Each participant can only submit one article. Application will not be accepted if more than one article is submitted.
  2. Participants must comply with the regulations of the competition. If any participant’s rights and interests are affected due to their failure to observe the regulations of the competition, they should not object to the results.
  3. Please download the Author Declaration and Consent to Publish Form before participating in the competition, and sign it in person.
  4. The content of an article submitted shall not plagiarize others’ works. Upon verification that plagiarism has occurred, which is a violation of academic integrity, the organizer may withdraw any prize awarded.
  5. With the Author Declaration and Consent to Publish Form, the organizer may use and publish award-winning articles. However, authors of these articles still own the copyright to their articles.

 

Awards:

  1. First Place Award: a certificate and a merit-based scholarship of NT$ 8,000.
  2. Second Place Award: a certificate and a merit-based scholarship of NT$ 5,000.
  3. Honorable Mention: a certificate and a merit-based scholarship of NT$ 2,000.
