Abstract / Chinese PDF Download

Since  the  1990s,  Globalization  has  been  the  main  dynamics  influencing  thedevelopment of world system.    The trends of globalization were also reflected inthe  change  of  the  Asia-Pacific  security  systems.    Among  them,  the  “East-Asiafinancial  crisis”  and  the  “911  terrorist  attacks”  both  do  deeply  influence  thedevelopment   of   Asia-Pacific   security   systems.      Such   situations   make   theseconventional    ideas    like    Common    Security,    Cooperative    Security    andComprehensive  Security  defective.    Even  though  these  three  concepts  have  longbeen  discussed  inside  the  issues  of  Asia-Pacific  security  systems,  they  should  beregenerated  to  accommodate  new  challenges  in  the  era  of  globalization.    Thearticle  first  reveals  how  the  trends  of  globalization  condition  the  development  ofAsia-Pacific security systems and then argues that the new integrative idea  “Neo-Comprehensive Security System” would be a better guideline on the security issuesfor countries around Asia-Pacific.
