Ministry of Education Notice: Student Safety Guidelines for Winter Break 2025
To ensure the health and safety of students during the winter break, the Ministry of Education has outlined the following safety measures:
1. Fraud Prevention:
- Avoid Suspicious Links: Do not click on unknown URLs in text messages to prevent malware or phone misuse by scammers. Be cautious when using messaging apps (e.g., Line) and avoid sharing account credentials to prevent fraud.
- Small-Payment Scams: Scammers exploit small-payment systems. Request telecom providers to disable small-payment services and never accept verification SMS for others.
- Investment Fraud:
- Three “Do Nots”:
- Do not trust unidentified sources of information.
- Do not join unfamiliar investment groups.
- Do not use “guaranteed profit” apps or platforms.
- Three “Musts”:
- Stay alert to investment solicitations.
- Verify with legitimate brokers or the anti-fraud hotline (165).
- Report to the police or relevant authorities (dial 165 for assistance).
- Three “Do Nots”:
- Zero-Interest Loan Fraud: Beware of scams promoting “free phones” or “zero-down payments,” which can lead to unintended loan obligations. Avoid signing contracts without thorough review.
- Resources: Download the “Police Service APP” or visit the 165 Anti-Fraud Website for updated fraud prevention information.
2. Traffic Safety:
- Vehicle Safety: Observe traffic rules when riding motorcycles, e-bikes, or bicycles. At intersections, slow down, look, and stop. Refrain from drunk driving, speeding, or reckless driving.
- License Requirement: Do not drive without a valid license as it is illegal and can endanger yourself and others.
3. Work Safety:
- Labor Guidelines: Follow the Ministry of Labor’s “Workplace Guidelines,” which include:
- Three Musts: Confirm job details, remain skeptical, and inform someone about your job.
- Seven Prohibitions: Do not pay fees, purchase items, sign contracts blindly, leave IDs with others, engage in illegal work, drink on the job, or apply for credit cards.
- Resources: Visit the Ministry of Labor’s official website for more information.
4. Activity Safety:
- Indoor Activities: Choose safe venues, familiarize yourself with escape routes, and know how to use fire safety equipment. Avoid unsavory locations.
- Outdoor Activities: Conduct risk assessments before hiking or similar activities. Ensure adequate preparation.
- School Camps: Prioritize safety and educational goals. Activities must comply with school policies and promote respect for participants’ rights and safety.
5. Drug Abuse Prevention:
- Awareness: Be cautious of drugs disguised in inconspicuous packaging and avoid unknown QR codes in communication apps.
- Healthy Habits: Maintain regular routines and avoid non-prescription drugs or addictive substances. Refrain from accepting items from strangers or engaging in risky delivery jobs.
6. Campus and Personal Safety:
- On-Campus Safety: Follow school schedules, avoid being on campus alone, and stay in well-populated areas.
- Off-Campus Safety: Be vigilant when encountering suspicious individuals. Call emergency services (110), alert campus security, or move to public places like convenience stores if followed. Students in off-campus housing should secure doors and report suspicious activity.
