NTU Political Science Bachelor’s Degree Credit Requirements

A total of 128 credits is required for graduation, including core required courses (12 credits), general education (15 credits), departmental required and elective courses (vary by division), and elective credits (at least 10 credits from the department). Credit distribution differs across Political Theory, International Relations, and Public Administration divisions.

  • From sophomore year, students can apply for a double major, but approval is limited to once.
  • Students pursuing Political Science as a double major must complete the required credits for each group. The basic requirement is a GPA of 2.92 or above (75% in the 100-point system) or being in the top 20% of the class.
  • Students pursuing a double major must complete the graduation credits for both majors, including the required courses and electives of both departments, and both degrees will be listed on their diploma.
  • According to Article 6 of the National Taiwan University Regulations on Double Major Enrollment for Students and the regulations of the Department of Political Science, students who have completed required courses in their original major that are of the same nature as required courses in Political Science (e.g., Economics B (I)(II), Social Statistics ) may count those courses toward their double major in Political Science. However, the credits counted in this manner must not exceed half of the total required credits designated by the Department of Political Science.

  • From sophomore year and before the start of the first semester of their final year of study (not including extension of study), students can apply for a department transfer, limited to once. Transferring to a different track within the same department is treated the same as a department transfer.
