高研院尖端講座系列(第三場)報名表-主題:The Demise of(State)Multilateralism in the Multipolar World;Why?
講者簡介:Goran Fejic was trained as an economist and has a degree from the Zagreb faculty of Economic sciences. He was a diplomat of the former Yugoslavia (posted in Rome, Geneva and New York for UNGA meetings) until 1991 when he resigned in opposition to the war-mongering politics of the new nationalistic leaders. He joined the United Nations in his personal capacity and worked as coordinator in several peace-keeping, peace-building, electoral and human rights missions across the world: Haiti, South Africa, Guatemala and Afghanistan. From 2005 to 2011, when he retired, he worked as senior advisor in the Policy and Strategy Unit of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, (International IDEA), based in Stockholm, Sweden. He currently lives in Paris, France.
主題簡介:Why is multilateralism – the idea that international relations should be shaped by commonly agreed rules and implemented for the benefit of all – undergoing a crisis today, precisely at the time when the world seems to become genuinely multi-polar? Fejic reflects on the evolution of multilateralism through its different phases, since the end of WWII. He analyses,in particular, the contradictory political interpretations of the end of the Cold War and the effects these interpretations have had on the behaviour of states and the evolution of multilateralism. He sees a link between its current crisis and the rise of populisms across the world.
